What does the Medical and Advanced diploma course include and will I be required to take any additional courses before I can get started in my Esthetics career?
NO, there are no additional courses required. Our program teaches you all the core information necessary for the practical component of the program, proper techniques in medical esthetics, laser and light based treatments, manicures, pedicures, facials, hair removal and make-up artistry, as well as advanced modalities such as aromatherapy, relaxation massage, hot stone massage, mud and seaweed wraps, salt glows, nutrition fundamentals and spa business management. Our Student Clinic gives you practical experience so you're ready to work as soon as you graduate.
Why are so many practical hours dedicated to the student clinic?
It is critical that the student has the skills necessary to interact with the client in a way that reinforces their experience. There is no substitute for work experience when it comes to customer service, practical applications, and general everyday spa duties. This work experience translates into a more qualified applicant when the job search begins. In fact, we suggest you include your clinic time as work experience on your resume.
Does this program cover everything I'll need to know to get a job in a Medical Esthetics office as a laser technician?
Yes. This program covers all the proper techniques required for medical esthetics, laser and light based treatments. Because there are literally hundreds of different types of lasers and light-based treatment machines, most doctors and surgeons will also train you in-house on their procedures and on their machines.
With medical esthetics, there tends to be some confusion about which services estheticians can perform. The medical spa offers traditional esthetic services, both invasive (Botox, injectable fillers) and non-invasive (laser hair removal, IPL). Estheticians are not qualified to perform invasive medical esthetic treatments; these must be administered by a registered nurse or a doctor.
What is the Sexual Violence & Harassment Policy of National Institute of Esthetics?
How do I find out the Key Performance Indicators of a Private Career College?
"My time at the National Institute of Esthetics was everything I expected it to be and then some. The small class size helped to give me more one on one attention while I was perfecting my craft. The instructors really took notice to technique and often we had opportunity to perform services on them, which I felt offered the best insight for me as a student. The theory we learned was in depth and more extensive and I feel strongly that it has best prepared me for employment. I was hired as a Medical Esthetician and Non-Surgical Technician for a Plastic Surgery Clinic upon graduating with honours."
