About Us
The National Institute of Esthetics was founded in 2004 by spa-industry specialist and esthetics expert, Sherry Docherty. Since its inception, the school - and its reputation for graduating talented, professional estheticians - has grown exponentially.
Sherry Docherty's industry experience spans more than 26 years and includes national product trainer for an international skin care line, spa owner/operator, spa technician, educational designer, teacher and director for an esthetics institute. Sherry has authored numerous articles for industry magazines, including Beauty Beat & Spa, Spa Canada, Hairdresser Magazine, Salon Magazine and Esthemag Pro. She has also been a guest speaker for several industry tradeshows, including Esthetique SPA International in 2004 and 2005. Sherry is also an award-winning esthetician, medical esthetician and makeup artist.
In 2000, Sherry Docherty, Dean of National Institute of Esthetics, developed the standardized esthetics curriculum for the National Association of Career Colleges (NACC), which was purchased and taught by other NACC schools. Sherry has been a member of the NACC Examinations Committee since 2000.
In 2010, with input from National Institute of Esthetics Course Director, Andrea Knox, and N.I.E. instructor Sarah Shields, Sherry developed the NACC's recent program revision.
The instructors are experienced professionals with a passion for the esthetics industry. All National Institute of Esthetics staff are required to complete yearly professional development training in order to maintain leading-edge industry standards and curriculum.
The school is a leading edge, 2,350 square foot, 2-level educational facility located in a prominent medical centre, in Ancaster's Meadowlands.
The Institute offers clean training rooms, and up-to-date, fully working equipment. Students enjoy the latest in audio/visual teaching technologies.
Located on a busy transportation route, the school is a close proximity to highway access and close to daily amenities (banks, malls, bus stops, etc.). Parking is free.
